INTRODUCTION
Red Ribbon Club is a movement started by the Government of India in schools and colleges through which, students will spread awareness over HIV/AIDS.Red ribbon club was started in our college during 2007-2008, with 100 volunteers. It envisages to instill charity mind among all the students to extend their able help towards developing healthy life styles, donating blood to all the needy by promotion of Regular voluntary blood donation.
OBJECTIVES:
- To induce among youth the spirit to help and support people living with HIV/AIDS .PLHIVs) thereby reducing stigma and discrimination against (PLHAs).
- To instill life skills into youths to live better healthier life.
- To motivate youth and build their capacity as peer educators and change agents by developing their skills on leadership, negotiation, and team building.
- To promote voluntary non remunerated blood donation among youth
RRC PROGRAMS:
- Cleaning the college campus by RRC member under the rule of Green India.
- Blood Donation Camp has been scheduled to imbibe the sense of social responsibility among the students.
- AIDS Awareness program has been planned outside the college to stress the importance and need for awareness of AIDS.
- Organ Donation Camp has been conducted to stress the importance and speech on organ donation
- A Rally has been planned outside the college to the awareness of AIDS.
- Competition-Slogan writing, poster making.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

Our college and RRC organized the orientation programme “Celebrating Life”. Mr.Murugan , ICTC, Counselor, Thiruvegambatur and Mrs. Rani (PLHIV) were invited as the Chief guests. Nearly 100 volunteers from first year students participated in this programme.

Red Ribbon Club is a movement started by the Government of India in schools and colleges. So all the affiliated colleges of Alagappa University started its RRC during the year of 2007-2008, in our college also RRC started. Rabiya of II CS was selected as the president of RRC and H.Sumaiya Fathima of ICS was selected as secretary of RRC. All the students took oath that they will spread awareness over HIV/AIDS and to instill charity mind among all the students to extend their able help towards developing healthy life styles, donating blood to all the needy by promotion of Regular voluntary blood donation. So we have planned to the ground cleaning at the end of the inaugural function. All RRC club members eagerly participated.
ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

RRC members were attended the one day seminar on “Awareness on Blood Donation” was held on that day. Mr.Murugan , ICTC, Counselor, Thiruvegambatur was invited as the chief guest. He gave speech for donating blood and their importance. Nearly 100 students and our faculties were participated in this programme.
TREE PLANTATION - SAMATHUVAPURAM

In conjunction with the Birthday of Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam, we called upon our students to the Government school, Samathuvapuram. Our students were planted nearly 20 plants accompanied with the school students. They learned about the necessity of tree and also learned about the humanity. Some students have given the awareness about cleanliness and also gave the speech about Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam’s 20 Principles.
AWARENESS ON SAFE BLOOD TRANSFUSION

The “Safe Blood Transfusion” Awareness programme was organized by RRC. This event was conducted to the find blood group among the students and staff. Mrs. Vani devi, District officer of HIV/ AIDS was invited as the Chief guest and who came with her team of thirty lab technicians. Nearly 1090 students and staff were participated. ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

‘Celebrating Life’ an orientation programme was conducted as the part of RRC. The programme was presided over by Mr.Murugan, ICTC, Counselor and the club Co-Ordinators Mrs.A.Pelista Mary and Mrs.S.Charline Sugirtha. Our Chief Guest gave awareness on AIDS. Nearly 75 students were participated. Miss. Kani (III CS) President gave vote of thanks.
GROUND CLEANING
RRC students have done ground cleaning on 31.08.2017. Nearly 50 students were participated. They started their work at 10.00 am. They have finished their work at 1.00 pm. Spot was allotted by Miss .Sathiya (PET) for different groups. They did their job very neatly and clearly.
TALENT SHOW
Alagappa University Red Ribbon Club, TamilNadu AIDS Control Department organized District Level Competition to create HIV/AIDS and STI on 25.09.2017 to celebrate the International Youth Day. The competitions are stage/street play, Mime, Slogan writing, and poster making. In that competition our club students participated and got second place in slogan writing, third place in Mime.
DENGUE AWARENESS - VIJAYAPURAM, SAMATHUVAPURAM

As the extension activity of Idhaya Red Ribbon Club, the Co-Ordinators Mrs.A Johnsi Amala and Mrs.Stella organized Dengue awareness programme in Vijayapuram Samathuvapuram, the near by village of our college with the permission of Principal. Nearly 25 students from RRC gave awareness in the villagers by means of models, charts and lectures. Nearly 30 villagers benefited by this programme.
NATIONAL VOTERS DAY-SEMINAR

The RRC club was organized seminar in the topic of “NATIONAL VOTERS DAY “awareness in the multipurpose hall. Mr. Somasundaram. Vice chairman of RRC, Sivaganga was invited as a Chief guest .Our Principal Rev.Sr. Dr.C. Jothi Mary welcome the Chief guest with shawl . He gave a motivational talk in the beginning and interacts with everyone and made them to understand the values of Voters day.

RRC AWARENESS

We were conducted the meeting on this day about the RRC. The Co-ordinators are Mrs.A.Johnsi Amala and Mrs.S.Mumthaj Begam. In that session Mrs.A.JohnsiAmala started the speech about RRC to the club members. All are participated in that programme and she gave the information about RRC. Then Mrs.S.Mumthaj Begam discussed about the blood grouping, blood donation and blood bank to using the blood. In that club, we split the students into 4 groups. They were allotted for specific activity. There are Educational group, Health & Hygiene group, Economic group, Sports group. Then the Co-ordinators gave the motivational talk and we selected the President of RRC Miss. S.Priyanka (III-Biochemistry) and a secretary is Miss. S.Aysha Banu.
SANITARY AWARENESS TO THE SCHOOL STUDENTS
ELANGUDI VILLAGE (PAVANAKOTTAI)

The RRC organized Sanitary Awareness Programme in Elangudi village near Pavanakkotai. Ten of our students along with two staff member Mrs.A.JohnsiAmala, and Mrs.S.MumthajBegam, reach there with charts and teaching materials at 9.30 am, and assemble the school students infront of the school. Our RRC students clean the place where they are going to teach. After cleans RRC students split the school students into four groups and started teaching.
DENGUE AWARENESS

The RRC club and NSS organized “DENGUE AWARENESS” programme in Our college at multipurpose hall .The seminar was started with prayer song and continuously by welcome address given by RRC secretary Miss. S.Aysha Banu (II Bio). Dr. S. Usha Rani, Head of the Department, Department of Biochemistry was the Chieff guest, she gave lot of information about personal hygiene. Nearly 300 students from both club were attended the seminar. It was very useful to all the students for prevention from Dengue as well as public hygiene for preventing Dengue fever. She established the causes, transmission and prevention of dengue fever. Finally she explained the homemade remedies for Dengue.
GROUND CLEANING

Red Ribbon Club organized Ground Cleaning. Nearly nineteen students were participated. They started their work at 2.30pm to 3.40pm.They removed Plastic carry bags and clean the surrounding area .They did their job very neatly and cleanly.
BLOOD DONATION CAMP

Blood Donation Camp was organized by our RRC officers in collaboration with NSS and YRC, in closed auditorium. Dr. Thendral, Asst Prof, blood bank, Medical college, Sivaganga and Dr. Karthiga , Block Medical officer, Velayuthapattinam were invited as Special Guest.Our Principal Rev. Sr. Dr. Jothi Mary precided over the function .Our GuestDr.Thendral gave special address about the purpose and uses of donationg blood . Our guest, Principal and Vice Principal inaugurated the Blood Donation Camp. Nearly 51 volunteers including our 3 faculties voluntarily donated their blood .They were highly appreciated by our Principal.
ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS REPORT
Our college Red Ribbon Club organized the Road safety awareness programme in Collaboration with YRC, NSS and Rotracton 23 rd Feb 2019. Nearly 30 Students along with two Staff Members Mrs. A.Jhonsi Amala and Mrs.S.Mumthaj Begam went to Rally from Union Office to Thiyagigalpark in Devakottai. Our students said some slogan about road safety with showing plug cards. Our Chief Guest Dr.Jeyakumar (Indian hospital) advised our students, how to prevent an accident and Mr.GnanaThiraviyam (Traffic Inspector) explained the Traffic Rules and Road Safety.

DENGUE AWARENESS

style="text-align: justify;"The RRC club were organized ‘DENGUE AWARENESS’ programme at our multipurpose hall . The programme was started with the prayer song and continued by welcome address given by RRC Secretary Miss. Kohila (III Bio). Dr.S.UshaRani, Head of the Department, Department of Biochemistry was the Chief Guest. She gave lot of information about the prevention of disease. Nearly 124 students from RRC club were attended the programme .It was very useful to the students for prevention from Dengue. She explained the causes and its prevention.
ORGAN DONATION AWARENESS
On 12th September, 2019, an Organ Donation Awareness programme was organized by our RRC Club in our College in closed auditorium. Nearly 80 students and 08 staff members were attended this awareness programme. The programme was started with prayer song and welcome address was given by our student secretary Ms. Jaylaxmi(III Bio). After that Our Head of the Department, honored Our Chief Guests Dr.Azhagudass, Medical officer, Kallal and Mr.Murugan, Government Hospital, Thiruvegamputhur.
The first session was carried out by our guest Dr. Azhagudass and he gave a speech about various information regarding organ donation.He also shared the details about the organ donation and their ways to register. He also informed our students about the various organ donation camp availabiling in our District.
The Second session was carried out by Our Guest Mr. Murugan who gave a speech regarding the suicide awareness and the ways to prevent the suicide. He also motivated the students to avoid getting suicide.
BLOOD DONATION CAMP
On 23.09.19 Blood donation camp was organized by our RRC in collaboration with NSS and YRC in multipurpose hall. Dr. Suganya, Blood Bank, Sivagangai and Dr. Prabavathi, Velayuthpattinam were invited as Special Guest. Nearly 47 volunteers including 3 faculties voluntarily donate their blood.
