The Department of Commerce was established in 1996 with a view to inculcate academic excellence and to cater the needs of rural students through holistic education and guide the young women to be the future leader with social responsibility and justice. Sharp minds are at work in the department, where students learn the latest trends in business, commerce and entrepreneurship. There are four faculty members wholeheartedly involved, dedicated, committed, accessible and responsive to the needs of the students. It feels pride in producing more number of rank holders from its inception.

NATIONAL WORKSHOP
VENUE: COLLEGE AUDITORIUM
Department of Commerce, our COMSTAR Association organized One Day National Workshop on 24.09.2019 on “Innovative & Best Practices in Entrepreneurship” at our college Auditorium to induce entrepreneurial skills among the students. The function was started by prayer song with lighting the lamp. Our HOD Dr. S.Selvarani welcomed & felicitated the gathering. The first technical session was addressed by Mr. T.Balumahendra,Chairman,Miracle Mission INC FIRM, Theni. He shared his personal experience with live story and highlighted the following points:
- The students must concentrate not only studies but also extracurricular skills.
- Think high Live high
- As we are human we should face problem then only we can get unique idea.
- The students should read more books to enrich their knowledge.
- Each and every one do business to improve the standard of living.
- We must learn experience apart from educational qualification.
The second session was handled by Dr.P.Veeramani,Assistant professor, HUB coordinator of EDII, Alagappa University, Karaikud i. She shared and gave following suggestion to improve the quality of the students.

NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE WORKSHOP
Department of Commerce, Comstar Association organized one day National level Online Workshop on “How to balance our Economy in Covid 19?” on May 5th 2020.
The main aim of the workshop
- To excel the knowledge of the students, Research Scholars and Faculty members.
- To spend our time for analyzing current scenario.
- To update ourselves in the challengeable lock down period with recent technology.
- To encourage the faculties for the balancing mind in current situation.
In this workshop the course materials and assessment link have sent to the participants along with ten multiple choice questions. Nearly 600 participants like Mumbai, Mysore, Mandya, Nagaland, Bangalore, Jammu Kashmir, Bihar, Srinagar etc. Finally all the participants filled the feedback form and got E- Certificate.
NATIONAL ONLINE QUIZ ON GST
Programme : Online Quiz
Participants : 861 Participants
Department of Commerce conducted National online Quiz on GST on 27.05.2020 to 30.05.2020. That programme was organised by Head of the Department Dr.S.Selvarani and all the faculty members. The Quiz was conducted with a focus on creating more awareness in GST. Nearly 861 participants like Students, Research Scholars and Faculty members have participated from various institutions at different places in all over the nation. All the students and staff members were eagerly participated. The participants recieved e-certificate Who got pass mark in this Quiz and updated their knowlegde for GST.
One Day National Level Workshop On “A Life Changing Journey -7th March 2016
Department of Commerce organised a one day National Level Workshop on “A Life changing journey” on 7th March 2016 at Idhaya Auditorium. More than 200 students and 20 faculty members were participated in that Workshop.
Dr.S.SelvaRani, HOD Of Commerce welcomed the gathering and honoured the chief guest with shawl. Rev.Sr.Meldintha Mary, Vice Principal delivered the Presidential address and offered felicitation with real stories and she appreciated the Participants from Various Colleges.

2) He explained the Job opportunities, Preparation for CA exam and how to achieve our goal.
3) He point out the potential of the students to encourage them.

1) He talks about Digitization, Digitalization Merits & Demerits of Internet through Cartoons & Picture.
2) He briefly explained about the Technological Development from 18th Century to till now.
CERTIFICATE DISTRIBUTION
The Valedictory function of Workshop was held at 3.30pm. Dr.S.SelvaRani, HOD of Commerce, delivered the valedictory address. All the Participants were given certificates by our Resource Persons. Vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. R.Jayanthi, Assistant Professor of Commerce. The Workshop came to an end by National Anthem.
ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON CAPITAL MARKET & INESTMENT PLANNING Our COMSTAR Association conducted one day workshop on 28.09.2016 at our Management Block. It was started with prayer song. Ms. J.Ashifa III.B.Com had given the welcome address. The program presided over by Rev.Sr.Maria Josphine, Vice Principal. On that day our chief guest was Dr.R.Kasilingam, Associate Professor, Department of Management studies, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry. He was honoured by our Vice Principal with shawl.

NATIONAL SEMINAR
As we are planned the beginning of the year, our Department along with the Department of Commerce CA conducted a National Seminar on 04.10.2018 at 10.00 am in the college Auditorium. The Staff members of Commerce and Commerce with CA, the received the chief guest in a respected manner and introduced them to the principal. After welcoming the guest all of them along with the resource person worshiped the Mother Mary with garland. The function started with the blessings of God almighty through prayer song followed by welcome address. Mrs.R.Bhuvaneswari Asst. Professor Department of Commerce CA had welcomed the respected dignitaries and the gathering. In order to initiate the function the chief guest, principal, the heads of the Departments and the student’s representatives lighted the lamp.
Rev.Sr.Dr.C.Jothi Mary Principal felicitated the function. This day was unmemorable day because our Department was published an International Journal tied up with Shanlax International Journals of Commerce with ISSN No 2320-4168 with impact factor of 4.118. We achieved our one of the goals on that day. Exactly 26 papers were published in this Journal. The papers were collected from the other Districts also. Journal was published by our special guest and the beloved Principal Dr.C. JothiMary.
The resource person was Dr.V.Murugan, Teaching Assistant, Great Lake Institute of Management, Kanchipuram (District) and Dr.M.Gurupandi Assistant Professor of Commerce, Alagappa University, Karaikudi. The topic of the seminar is “Emerging Trends in Business and Management”. After refreshment the chief guest talked about the Recent Scenario about the Business and Management. The students of our College and the participants of nearby College were eagerly collecting the information what he said. This session followed by paper presentation. Nearly 20 students of other College were presented their papers. Dr.V.Murugan, F.ArockiaSamy Asst.Professor of Commerce Ananda College Devakottai, Mr.Kathirvel Asst.Professor of Commerce Sree Sevugan Annamalai College Devakottai, evaluate the paper and gave a suggestions to the presenters. The Morning session was closed on 1.45 pm. Our Department arranged a delicious lunch to the chief guest and the participants of other college.
Sharply 2.15 pm the second session was started. Dr.M.Gurupandi delivered a wonderful speech on Systems and learning and interacted with the students. Finally the valediction was at 3.15 pm. Feedback form was distributed to the other College students and got the opinion about the seminar. The Principal and the resource person distributed the presentation and the participation certificate to the students. Nearly 400 students were benefited and made the function successful one. Finally the function concluded with the National Anthem.
ONE DAY SEMINAR
Department of Commerce combined with Department of Commerce with CA and Department of Business Administration organized One Day Seminar On “Consumer Awareness and Rights” On 20.03.2019 at our College Campus. The chief guest Prof.V.Manickavasagam Former Controller of Examination Alagappa University, Karaikudi. Our chief guest gave special address about the Consumer and he illustrated the lack of concern among the consumer welfare. He emphasized on Consumer needs for ethics in business.
